Router Planes Manufactured to British Standards, Rutlands® hand planes are recommended by discerning cabinetmakers and carpentry instructors for their superb construction, finish and performance. Using world leading manufacturing techniques, each precision ground plane represents a serious alternative to the premium brands produced in North America. A router plane is designed for planing recesses, grooves, dados and for getting under the shoulders of dovetails. The blades are secured to the body using a solid brass knurled screw which has a screwdriver slot to ensure the blades are tightened rigidly in position. The sole of the plane encircles the blade for maximum registration on the workpiece.
No 1 Router Plane This compact router plane is an extremely versatile tool for fine detail work. The blades can be adjusted to sit 20mm below the sole to allow for deep cleaning and planing of grooves and recesses. It will sit securely over a gap up to 40mm wide and its open design offers great visibility and chip clearance. The plane is supplied with 3 blades, a 2.5mm V blade, a 6mm V blade and a 2.5mm straight blade. The straight blade is used for inlays and the V blades are used to get right into the corners. The planes sole plate measures 100mm x 45mm and it weighs 180g.
